ECRR Training Session Held at PMSS

More than 40 members of the Eastern Coal Regional Roundtable (ECRR) met for a three-day training session in May at the Settlement School. Founded in 2001, the non-profit ECRR serves mine-scarred Appalachian watersheds through training, capacity building and providing a collective voice for underserved communities seeking to restore the well-being of their citizens and environment. Members chose one of four tracks to study during the training: Water Monitoring and Developing a Watershed Plan, Grant Writing and Administration, Project Development and Reporting (319 Level) and Environmental Education.
Participants included the Appalachian Coal Country Watershed Team which helps citizens in coal-mining states work on environmental restoration projects, and the establishment of an economy based on conservation and development. States included in the initiative are Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee, Maryland, Indiana, Alabama, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
