After a half-day of hard work and a tour of the Pine Mountain campus, KY Y-Corps volunteers posed for a photo at the Creech Cabin.

Sixty-Five Kentucky Y-CORPS Volunteer at Pine Mountain

On Wednesday, June 17th, sixty-five high school students and recent graduates from across the state of Kentucky volunteered for half a day at Pine Mountain Settlement School. These youth were members of the Y-CORPS Service Program. Each participant was a member of their school's YMCA Youth Association and completed at least 50 hours of service during the 2008-2009 school year.

In their short time at PMSS, the volunteers worked with staff members to accomplish a long list of tasks. They double-dug four new garden beds; weeded campus flower and garden beds; repaired fences and mulched around new apple trees; cleared brush; washed windows and chairs; swept, mopped, and washed windows in several campus buildings, and removed seven truck loads of Bittersweet from the forest edge behind the Chapel.
