Job Opening at Pine Mountain Settlement School
Position Title: Assistant Director
Candidates for this position will be considered if they have the following education, experience and skills:
• College degree, and an advanced degree preferred, in the fields of non-profit administration, education, Appalachian Studies
• Should have demonstrated success in: supervising staff; problem-solving on a short- and long-term basis; building staff morale and confidence; creating a cohesive and productive work environment; and working independently and cooperatively toward common goals
• Must demonstrate excellent writing and speaking skills; the ability to communicate well with many types of people and groups; and success in fundraising activities, including grant writing and social media projects
• Must possess the ability to initiative and successfully complete projects in a timely manner; work on several projects simultaneously; and a good working knowledge of computer technology and common software programs
• Must possess knowledge of the Appalachian region, an appreciation of the culture, and an awareness of the past and current issues affecting the region
Required attributes: Must be a good role model for staff, both personally and professionally; must possess a positive attitude; must be willing to live in a remote area; must have an appreciation of the natural world.
